According to The Beatles official website, fans have ‘something new’ and exciting to which to look forward this upcoming holiday season.
The 27-track album Beatles compilation, called ‘1’, which was originally released in November of 2000, and then remastered and reissued in September, 2011, will be getting it’s second makeover – but a major one this time around.
For starters, like the original two incarnations, it will feature a single disc containing every number-one Fab Four single released in the United Kingdom and United States from 1962 to 1970 – that’s disc one.
But, each of the 27 tracks will be remixed stereo versions – including new 5.1 Dolby Digital and DTS HD surround audio mixes.
And, for the first time, a second DVD/Blu-ray disc will be added. It will contain the same 27 audio tracks paired with promotional films and videos made by the band for each chart-topping song during the fledgeling days of that medium being used in conjunction with audio recordings.
Each video has been painstakingly restored frame-by-frame for pristine clarity by a team of Apple technicians, and also extensively researched.
These two-disc audio/single-disc video combo set is called ‘The Beatles 1’.
However, two deluxe packages containing a third disc (in 1-CD/2-DVD and 1-CD/2-Blu-ray disc configurations) will also be available.
That disc, from the deluxe sets, titled ‘The Beatles 1+‘, will present an additional 23 rarely – if ever – seen promotional films and videos. That’s a whopping 50 videos and 200 minutes of the ‘biggest hit singles’ segment of The Beatles’ story.
Also, for the growing number of fans of LP records, ‘The Beatles 1’ will eventually be made available in 2-Disc/180-gram vinyl album form.

Back in 2000, ‘1’ was the first Beatles compilation to be contained on one compact disc, and became a big commercial success, selling 31 million copies, and topping the album charts worldwide. And, in the U.S., it became the best-selling album for the decade, 2000-2009.
The original release was issued to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the band’s break-up, so, this new deluxe treatment of that material will fall on the 45th anniversary of the split.
Lastly, when will it be available? It’s being released worldwide on November 6th by Apple Corps Ltd./UMG.
