#JustHeardAtStarbucks®
Another ‘souled-out’ day (thanks ex-CHUM/Toronto radio jock and colleague Duke Roberts!) on the outdoor patio of Starbucks at Little Road in New Port Richey, FL. (from where my daily blog is produced)
And today it was another “Oh wow!” – Aretha Franklin‘s R&B flavored hit Until You Come Back To Me (That’s What I’m Gonna Do).

UNTIL YOU COME BACK TO ME
(That’s What I’m Gonna Do)
Aretha Franklin
[1973]
It was first recorded by Stevie Wonder (see below) but the “Queen Of Soul” sang this in 1973 like no one else could.
Reaching #3 in early 1974 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #1 on their R&B chart, Until You Come Back To Me was the fourteenth million-selling single for “Lady Soul.”
She would strike gold one more time with 1998’s A Rose Is A Still Rose, the title track from her critically acclaimed album, which also was gold-certified.

UNTIL YOU COME BACK TO ME
(That’s What I’m Gonna Do)
Stevie Wonder
[1967]
Stevie Wonder co-wrote and recorded the original of UYCBTM for Motown Records in 1967, but it wasn’t released by the label for ten years until appearing on his 1977 anthology album titled Looking Back. Actually, this is a really well-done version!
