Happy Holidays – and enjoy!

About ‘Frosty The Snowman’ – The original was done by ‘The Singing Cowboy” Gene Autry & The Cass County Boys in 1950 and reached #7 on the Billboard Pop Singles chart.

One year earlier, Autry’s recording of the holiday classic Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer sat at #1 on the U.S. charts the week of Christmas in ’49.

To cash in on that chart topper, songwriters Walter “Jack” Rollins and Steve Nelson penned the song about the animated magical character specifically for Autry, who eagerly sought a follow-up holiday hit and recorded it.

Trivia Stuff – Since the release of Autry’s original on December 14, 1950, roughly 25 artists of various musical genres have covered the song – the latest ones were in 2012 by Canadian crooner Michael Buble and another just this year by American country and pop singer LeAnn Rimes .
