A holiday tradition for pop music lovers since 1963, A Christmas Gift For You from Philles Records (aka ‘Phil Spector’s Christmas Album’) is being presented here track-by-track over the Yuletide season – all 13 songs in their RARE re-mixed two-track STEREO form!

One track per day will be featured during the holiday season during the ‘Phil Spector 12 Days (+1) of Christmas Special ‘ which will end on December 24th (Links for the tracks you may have missed thus far are below).

Happy Holidays – and enjoy!

About ‘WINTER WONDERLAND’  – This annual yule-time favorite was written in 1934 by Felix Bernard (music) and Richard B. Smith (lyrics) and, as with other holiday classics on the Spector album, no references to Christmas are made.

The original recording was done that same year by Richard Himber & His Hotel Ritz-Carlton Orchestra on the RCA Bluebird label.

Trivia Stuff – Through the decades WW it has been recorded by over 200 different artists.

(Track #9)
[1963]

‘A Christmas Gift For You’ Fact – The album jacket and promotional photos were taken in Los Angeles in the late summer of 1963. Being still quite warm in L.A., all the artists involved on album became very uncomfortable in the heavy Christmas costumes (from Darlene Love via correspondent Doug Thompson).
